FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
| Q: How do I order your paper? |
| A: Here's a short video. |
 |
| Q: How many colors are available? |
| A: There are over 125 faux colors
in the collection plus a white tissue base that you can paint yourself
if you're an experienced faux artist. You can purchase all faux
colors and the tissue base here at FauxPaper.com |
| Q: How does it compare to faux painting? |
A: In Portland, OR faux painting
ranges from $3-$10 per sq. ft. Stoney Brook Torn Paper is $5.60-$6.60
per sq. ft. installed. That's an excellent value for such a high
quality finish.
Faux Painting can take several days. Stoney Brook can be installed
in small to medium rooms in just one day.
Repair ability is a huge advantage with Stoney Brook Torn paper.
Not so with a faux painted wall. You may end up paying to have your
entire wall re-painted if your faux painter can't match the technique/colors.
Minor repairs with Stoney Brook take only 5 minutes and are undetectable.
Obviously Stoney Brook Torn Paper is the smarter investment. |
Q: How
fast can I get my paper after it's ordered? Can I get a "rush"
order? |
A: Turn around
time for Stoney Brook Paper is normally 3-4 weeks. This is fast
for such a unique hand made product. There is no machinery used
in manufacturing this paper. It takes a lot of space to make torn
paper! Stoney Brook moved to it's new larger factory in 2006.
And it would be very expensive to warehouse all faux colors. Not
making it until you order it actually reduces overhead and keeps
your cost down.
Rush orders are accepted on a case by case basis. You must call
(Do Not order online) 503-750-6525 8:30 am - 2:00 pm PST; Monday
- Friday with the details of your request. I will be able to give
you an answer within minutes whether or not the factory can complete
your rush order request.*
*Approved Rush orders will ship one week sooner and an additional
charge of 25¢ per sq. ft. will be added to your order. |
A: Yes. Stoney Brook Torn Paper
can be used in high traffic areas for residential and commercial
applications. Ease of repair will secure your investment for many
years. Class A Fire Rating is also available for an additional 5¢
per sq. ft. |
| Q: I'm not a professional
paperhanger. Can I install Stoney Brook Paper? |
A: If you're physically able
to do the work and willing to do the work, then yes you can install
Stoney Brook Paper. However, it is recommended that you use a professional
(licensed if required by your state) wallcovering installer. Have
your paperhanger follow the instructions in Pro
Tips so they can give you a beautiful installation. |
| Q: Can I install Stoney
Brook Paper over texture? |
A: Stoney Brook Paper looks excellent
over knock down texture and may also be installed over a light orange
peel texture. The bumpiness will add texture to the paper. However
it is not recommended to install Stoney Brook Paper over a heavily
textured wall or stucco. |
| Q: Why are there three price
codes? |
A: Just as there are different
price codes in traditional wallpaper sample books, some of the faux
colors & effects created by Stoney Brook are more labor intensive
to produce. Most of the faux colors are in price code 1.
If you are using Internet Explorer, just mouse over the larger samples
(not the samples index) and the pricing will pop up for each faux
color you mouse over. *This feature is not supported in Mozilla's
browser. |
Q: Can I install Stoney
Brook Paper on my counter top or floors? |
A: No. This is
wallpaper, not Formica or flooring. This hand painted torn wallcovering
is designed to be installed on walls, ceilings & columns. Stoney
Brook Wallcoverings, Inc. does not recommend installing it's wallpapers
on other surfaces.
*Any person(s) electing to attempt such an installation does so
at their own risk. |
